Year of Consecrated Life

year of consecrated lifeThe Year of Consecrated Life was officially inaugurated by His Holiness, Pope Francis, on November 29, 2014 with a Prayer Vigil at the Papal Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome. The Year continues to February 2, 2016, the World Day of Consecrated Life, when Pope Francis will celebrate a special Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

As a church community administered by the Congregation of the Resurrection, we at St. Francis of Assisi Parish are able to witness first-hand the collaboration, inspiration and dedication of those living a Consecrated Life. But do you know about all the other Religious Communities ministering in the Diocese of Hamilton? During this Year of Consecrated Life we will highlight these amazing communities, so check back here often!  Maybe you will discover a community which is calling you to a new vocation.

Check out the video below, co-produced by Fr. Toby Collins, C.R., celebrating Consecrated Life in the Diocese of Hamilton!

Prayer for the Year of Consecrated Life

O God,
you never cease to call men and women
to live the grace of their Baptism
by dedicating themselves to perfect charity,
with vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.

We thank you for the faithful witness
of many Priests, Brothers and Sisters
who have inspired us to follow more closely
in the footsteps of your Son, Jesus Christ.

Inflame with your Spirit
the hearts of those you are calling
to consecrated life in the Church today.
May they become prophetic witnesses
to the joy of the Gospel
and signs of hope in our world today.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
