Novena Day 2 + COVID & Christian Unity blog

Nicholas Jesson is the ecumenical officer for the Diocese of Regina and he has written a blog for Salt & Light Media entitled COVID and Christian Unity | One Body. We at St. Francis of Assisi Parish have long been committed to working and praying with our ecumenical brothers and sisters, and so we invite you to read this blog today.

Covering our Region in Prayer

On Sunday afternoon we’re going to cover Waterloo Region in prayer from park to park to park.

Please grab some friends and/or family (up to the public outdoor gathering limit of 5) and head to a park near you and you’ll be joining with others from all across the Region doing the same thing, praying in unity. A video will lead us as we pray. It will premiere on YouTube at 2 pm or you can download it beforehand (coming soon), if you want to watch without mobile data.

See how you can participate and help cover Waterloo Region in Prayer. How will we know what God is calling us to do, unless we ask? We want to see the Power of God transform Waterloo Region and all of Canada.

Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

A novena to The Sacred Heart of Jesus has been published by the Institute for Catholic Education for use by families, in classrooms, or privately. The nine-days of prayer leading up to the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 11th, gives us an opportunity to “find our sure comfort and rest in the Sacred Heart of Christ’s love for each and every one of us.”

St. Francis of Assisi Parish invites you to pray this novena with us in solidarity with all our young people in school and all the teachers and staff supporting them, by visiting our website each day for the next nine days. The daily prayer will only take a few minutes and will unite us even while we cannot yet gather together. You can also access the entire novena by clicking here.

IN PREPARATION:
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2 | WE LOOK TO YOU, O LORD

On this day, before our Novena begins, we think of Psalm 25. Over the next nine days we will lift up our soul, lift up our hearts, lift up our prayers together knowing no matter
what, the heart of Jesus is filled with love for us.

To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
O my God, in you I trust;
Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth, and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all day long
