Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness

Many women suffer the loss of a child through miscarriage or when they are infants, and often do not know where to turn for support. This is an extremely painful time for a family, so October has been formally named as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month; Oct. 15th is designated the official Remembrance Day for Pregnancy and Infant Loss in Canada. These losses cause much grief and, because they are rarely talked about, can contribute to mental health issues. The intent of the month and official remembrance day is to encourage people to talk about their loss and gain much needed support.

Today let us hold in prayer those families who have suffered the loss of a child through miscarriage or infant death. If you are grieving such a loss please reach out for help in your grief.  You can learn more about diocesan and other programs by clicking here.
