When & Where does it take place?   Children’s Liturgy is offered at St. Francis during the 9:00 am Sunday Mass.  Children sit with their families to begin Mass, then after the opening prayer the leaders and children go to the Emmaus and Resurrection Rooms just behind the sanctuary for their program while the Liturgy of the Word takes place in the church.  Children return to their families after the prayers of the faithful, in time to participate in the Eucharist.

Who runs the program?  Children’s Liturgy is run by volunteer leaders and assistants, parishioners of St. Francis who are fully screened according to Diocesan Screening Policies.  They use the approved children’s translation of the scripture readings, as well as children’s bulletins and other activities the coordinators source or create themselves.  We have some wonderful, creative volunteers!

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS

Speaking of our wonderful volunteers, we currently only have three!  We need at least 6 more volunteers to join this ministry in order for Children’s Liturgy to begin as planned in the fall.  Training and materials are provided, you follow a schedule so you aren’t committed to leading every Sunday, and we will guide you through the volunteer screening process.  If you are good at working with children and want to help our young parishioners learn God’s Word and His love for them, please consider joining this ministry.  Perhaps you have children or grandchildren who would like to participate in the program, you could help as a leader or as a volunteer supervisor, supporting the leaders.
