A note from Bishop Crosby:
“WORLD REFUGEE DAY falls on June 20th each year, today! This is a special day recognized by the United Nations to commemorate the anniversary of the birth of the 1951 Refugee Convention. This year let us reflect on the strength and resiliency of our refugee brothers and sisters across the globe, a community of forcibly displaced individuals and families that now totals an unprecedented 100 million people! Our [Hamilton Diocese] Office for Refugees will be welcoming a family of 5 from Ethiopia [today] – a beautiful expression of the power of the refugee sponsorship program to honour the dignity of the human family and safeguard the human right to life, liberty and security of the person.
